Role Summary:

The primary focus of this role is to provide specialized knowledge in the evaluation and assignment of precise medical codes for diagnoses. This includes a keen emphasis on accurately capturing risk codes as per provider documentation and the medical record.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and assign medical codes with accuracy, ensuring compliance with coding standards.
  • Utilize expertise in risk adjustment coding to enhance documentation and coding practices.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare providers to ensure proper coding and documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding policies and clinic operations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 6 months in coding is required, with a preference for 3 years in risk adjustment coding. Familiarity with NLP technology and both prospective and concurrent risk coding is advantageous.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Certifications: Must possess certification through AHIMA or AAPC.
  • Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills in English, proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, and the ability to learn quickly in Epic EHR.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and effectively resolve issues.
