Ultrasound Technologist Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center. This is a PRN position that will cover on-call after hours and backfilling day shift.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and document all aspects of Ultrasound procedures, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Verify patient consent and preparation for procedures, and obtain informed consent when necessary.
  • Provide patient information and instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Assume responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
  • Practice aseptic techniques, immobilize patients as required, and position patients to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest.
  • Select and operate imaging equipment, and associated accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Monitor patients during procedures, and responsible for following established procedures and protocols.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality, and initiate basic life support action when necessary.
  • Check and order supplies as needed, and participate in data collection for department's quality assessment and improvement plan.
  • May be responsible for specific quality control duties in assigned areas, and assist in training and education of employees, physicians, students, and/or other healthcare professionals.
Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited program for Ultrasound Sonographers.
  • RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) certification.
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification.
  • Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

This position has a hiring range of $59.26 per hour.
