Job Summary

GFL Environmental seeks a skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining our fleet of heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting repairs and preventative maintenance on our Diesel and CNG vehicles to ensure they are safe and road-ready. You will work under the guidance of shop leadership, utilizing your technical skills and knowledge to diagnose and repair complex issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct basic inspections of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition.
  • Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.
  • Perform standard electronic diagnostics and repair electrical equipment and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles.
  • Complete reports, work orders, order parts, and perform other administrative duties as required daily.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean work area.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in diesel/CNG maintenance.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other related state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization and communicate with customers and external vendors.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
  • Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred, or the willingness and ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment.
