The Financial Operations Supervisor will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for managing the daily accounting activities while enhancing financial operations and delivering strategic insights to foster organizational growth and effectiveness.

This role is crucial for ensuring precision, compliance, and adherence to internal controls, with a strong emphasis on maintaining the financial integrity of the organization.

The Financial Operations Supervisor will be required to travel as necessary between various locations. This position entails reviewing and approving all team outputs, which is essential for team development.

Key Requirements:

  1. Familiarity with lending and financial services
  2. Robust accounting expertise, preferably from a Big 4 firm or a similar financial institution

This role encompasses a blend of reporting, presentations, and forecasting responsibilities, and it is essential for the candidate to be comfortable navigating ambiguity in the short term.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Prepare comprehensive financial statements and reports for the CFO and senior management
  • Monitor cash flow, investments, and financial performance against the annual budget
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, GAAP, and relevant regulations
  • Assist with annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting obligations
  • Maintain strong internal controls to protect financial assets and ensure accuracy
  • Prepare financial reports for stakeholders as required, under the guidance of the CFO
  • Monitor grant revenue and expense entries for accuracy
  • Review all account reconciliations
  • Assist in the implementation of new financial software
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance processes and improve financial management practices
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience is required
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting is highly preferred
  • At least 3 years of management experience is required
  • CPA certification or in progress is preferred
