Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Officer to join our team at Northwell Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring hospital and safety management programs for multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety management programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Conduct regular site visits to identify deficiencies and opportunities for improvement in environment of care management programs.
  • Prepare and submit reports to hospital administration and outside regulatory agencies as required.
  • Consult with management and staff on safety issues, policies, and concerns, including waste management, hazardous material control, and security issues.
  • Implement and monitor the effectiveness of safety committee recommendations.
  • Maintain safety manuals and ensure compliance with certification aspects associated with TJC, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and conduct training programs covering all areas associated with site safety, including facility environment, disaster preparedness, emergency preparedness, and new programs or regulations.
  • Respond to and examine safety concerns/issues, prepare corrective action plans, and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
  • Experience in a laboratory setting, preferred.
  • Experience in virology, bacteriology, and molecular biology preferred.
