Job Summary:

UTHealth Houston is seeking a skilled Nurse Midwife to provide full scope midwifery care to obstetrical patients in accordance with approved midwifery protocols. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and midwifery, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate, direct, and implement prenatal and postpartum care
• Order, conduct, and interpret pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures
• Make medical recommendations and/or referrals
• Formulate, implement, and evaluate an outcome-based treatment plan
• Maintain appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes
• Facilitate patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion
• Collaborate with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in the patient's treatment
• Educate nursing students, medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals

Requirements:

• Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse
• Current Texas Licensure as APRN – Nurse Midwife
• Current Nurse Midwife certification
• ACLS/NRP may be obtained post-hire
