Apex Engineering Group is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our dynamic Water Group team. This role involves overseeing a dedicated team of engineers, technicians, and support personnel on various water and wastewater initiatives, guiding projects from initial planning through to design and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver expert engineering solutions for clients, including feasibility studies, planning, design, specifications, and project management.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, supervisors, and project teams, providing regular updates throughout all project phases.
- Participate in company, project, and client meetings as necessary.
- Lead the proposal preparation process and engage in interviews to secure new projects, with increasing responsibilities in business development as experience grows.
- Exercise independent judgment and initiative in decision-making.
- Guide engineering technicians and team members in developing project plans and specifications.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on complex, multi-faceted projects.
- Adhere to company policies and safety regulations.
- Execute responsibilities with a high degree of professionalism, attention to detail, and ethical standards.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Engage in professional organizations and community leadership initiatives as appropriate.
- Travel may be required, including overnight stays, particularly during peak construction periods.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required; a Master's degree is advantageous.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or the ability to obtain licensure within a specified timeframe.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in civil or environmental engineering within the water and wastewater sector.
- Familiarity with water supply, distribution, treatment, and wastewater systems is essential.
- Experience in civil design, specifications, and cost estimation related to water and sewer utilities is preferred.
- Proven project management skills are crucial for this role.
- Experience in construction management is required.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and possess strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
- Ability to adapt work schedules as needed to meet project deadlines and client requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of hydraulic modeling and CADD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) is a plus.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office environment and outdoors during construction phases.
- May require extended periods of standing and walking for construction observation or surveying tasks.
- Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must adhere to scheduled work hours.
