Job Title: Mechanical Trades Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Trades Specialist to join our team at Manhattan Mechanical Services. As a Mechanical Trades Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting with the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems in industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with the safe use of hand and power tools
- Identify potential hazards and mitigate them
- Assist with the proper disassembly and assembly of unit equipment
- Ensure proper permits have been obtained and read & understand all permits
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Perform Hole Watch and Fire Watch duties
- Work as a team to support the project

Requirements:

- 0 or more years of experience in industrial mechanical trades
- Ability to assist with installing piping and piping components
- Ability to assist with assembly and disassembly of equipment
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to identify various hand and power tools
- Ability to do basic construction math

Education:

- Willingness to attend continued training applicable to the job as deemed necessary by Manhattan Mechanical Services
- Ability to attend one of the following MMS provided apprenticeship programs

Physical Demands:

- Must comply with Manhattan Mechanical Services drug and alcohol policy
- Ability to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, as required by Manhattan Mechanical Services
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairways
- Must be able to carry 50 lbs. of tools and/or materials
- Must be able to work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.)
- Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.)
- Must be clean-shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required

Safety/Environmental:

- Must be able to pass applicable site-specific training
- Must be able to read and understand safety instructions, signs, labels and permits in English

About Us:

Manhattan Mechanical Services is a unique organization that provides support to our customers in multiple focused on process piping, structural steel, equipment setting, scaffolding, and insulation for heavy industrial facilities. We are the preferred mechanical contractor in the greater Chicago area. Safety and integrity are the common threads woven between customers, employees, and community.

Work Environment:

The normal work environment for our positions will be in an industrial facility, which has been determined to be a safety sensitive environment. You will experience exposure to outdoor weather conditions, wearing proper PPE is required for a variety of potential hazards. Every employee's performance could result in a significant incident affecting the health or safety of other employees, customers, customer's employees, the public, property, or the environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The roles and responsibilities of the any MMS employee may include but are not limited to the following:

- Safe use of hand and power tools
- Capable of identifying potential hazards and mitigating the hazards
- Assisting with the proper disassembly and assembly of unit equipment
- Ensure proper permits have been obtained and the ability to read & understand all permits
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Responsible for performing Hole Watch and Fire Watch duties
- Willing to work as a team at all times to support the project
- Fully participate in health, safety, quality and environmental processes

Experience:

- Have 0 or more years of experience in industrial mechanical trades

Skills:

- Able to assist with installing piping and piping components

Education:
