Key Responsibilities:
The Estimator will oversee and direct estimating operations, managing a team of estimators as needed. Responsibilities include:
  • Evaluating and reviewing requests for estimates
  • Ensuring estimates and revisions are complete and accurate
  • Interpreting construction documents to understand the scope of work
  • Conducting cost analysis by summarizing material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs for heavy civil projects
  • Executing take-offs from construction documents
  • Inputting take-off data into estimating software
  • Presenting detailed estimate results suitable for project management
  • Attending pre-bid meetings and documenting client communications
  • Preparing project cost estimates based on client RFQ documents
  • Generating proposals and incorporating necessary notes and exclusions
  • Maintaining cost estimating tools and databases
  • Coordinating estimate handoffs and leading relevant meetings
  • Communicating effectively with project managers and clients regarding estimating activities
  • Performing additional duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational capabilities
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • A minimum of three years of experience in civil construction
  • Familiarity with construction estimating software

Bonus Skills:
  • OSHA certification
  • General knowledge of the construction industry
  • A sense of humor is a plus

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Minimal travel may be required
