POSITION OVERVIEW: Deliver empathetic, high-quality care throughout the cancer treatment journey. This role involves prescribing systemic therapies and coordinating care with other medical professionals engaged in the patient's cancer management. The primary focus is on breast cancer, working closely with fellowship-trained breast surgeons, reconstructive surgeons, radiation oncologists, and a comprehensive support team that includes high-risk breast programs, genetic counselors, nurse navigators, and integrative therapy specialists.
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Oregon Medical Association Cancer Center integrates leading-edge research, advanced technology, and personalized support to provide exceptional patient care. Our accredited cancer centers are dedicated to delivering the highest standards of oncology care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Exemplify excellence in oncology practices, aligning treatment objectives with patient values.
- Conduct comprehensive oncology assessments and evaluations.
- Administer definitive treatments, supportive care, and follow-up services.
- Encourage wellness and disease prevention.
- Evaluate, plan, implement, and assess individualized patient care while demonstrating expert knowledge of evidence-based oncology practices.
- Engage in clinical trials for innovative therapies and supportive care.
- Participate in on-call rotations as necessary.
- Oversee advanced practice providers as required.
- Ensure accurate medication administration in compliance with organizational policies.
- May undertake additional responsibilities of similar complexity as assigned, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient experiences.

EDUCATION:
Required:
- Graduation from an accredited medical institution.
- Completion of an accredited residency in internal medicine.
- Completion of a Hematology-Oncology fellowship.
- Participation in mandatory educational offerings as required.
- Annual continuing medical education (CME) to maintain licensure and board certification.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Required:
- Current MD/DO license.
- Board certification or eligibility in the chosen specialty.
- Unrestricted Federal DEA registration.
- Ability to participate in Medicare/Medicaid and other governmental health programs.
- Valid driver's license and compliance with driving requirements.
- Current BLS certification; ACLS certification required if sedation is practiced.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Experience in both hospital and outpatient settings providing Medical Oncology care.
- Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with diverse populations.
- Experience in collaborative team environments to achieve healthcare goals.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Must be capable of wearing necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to perform job duties safely.
