Job Title: Elementary Resource Teacher

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Olathe Public Schools team as an Elementary Resource Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program for an elementary environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans, instructional materials, and tests to facilitate active learning.
  • Instruct, encourage, and monitor students' learning, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize learning.
  • Assign, grade, and provide feedback on class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
  • Maintain accurate, complete records of students' progress and prepare all required related documentation.
  • Participate and contribute as requested in meetings with department, school, district, parents, and community.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain discipline in accordance with district rules and procedures.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Participate in extracurricular and academic support activities as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Kansas elementary teaching license with High Incidence K-12 endorsement required.
  • Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, peers, and staff.
  • Ability to identify areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).
Work Environment:

This position requires the performance of light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The position involves prolonged sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing; occasional stooping, bending, and reaching; some pushing, pulling, lifting, kneeling, balancing, and crouching. The position involves having close visual acuity to perform activities of the job. The position also requires the operation of learning technologies such as computers, hand-held devices, etc. as well as relevant office equipment. Work is performed mostly in an indoor environment, with occasional outdoor requirements. Work is performed in a generally clean and hazard-free environment.
