Key Responsibilities:
As a Financial Systems Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the administration of the Enterprise Accounts Receivable (AR) and Billing systems, along with various revenue sub-systems and the online invoicing/payment platform. Your primary focus will be to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data recorded in the General Ledger (GL) and other accounting systems.
Your role will involve providing essential systems support and troubleshooting assistance to both team members and external users of the revenue sub-systems, Enterprise AR, and Billing systems, as well as the online invoicing/payment platforms.
You will effectively communicate necessary background information to management and the Information Communication & Technology (ICT) team for the resolution of any unresolved system issues.
Additionally, you will compile and present data from various systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for internal and external audits, as well as other federal, state, local, and ad hoc obligations.
As a subject matter expert, you will act as a liaison with users of the revenue sub-systems and enterprise accounting systems to evaluate and ensure effective solutions for system functionality.
You will also serve as the operational expert for Requests for Information, Requests for Proposal, and Business Cases related to the financial aspects of implementing various revenue sub-systems.
Your responsibilities will include managing quality assurance by developing and executing test strategies, scenarios, and documenting results to ensure smooth deployment of system functionalities or upgrades.
You will design reports and reconciliations using multiple data sources to ensure accurate accounting of all valid revenue transactions in accordance with established standards and principles.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for creating and updating training materials and guidance for Port departments regarding the use of various systems.
Qualifications:
Experienced – You possess a minimum of four (4) years of experience in accounting operations and systems, including functional administration of billing and accounts receivable systems, as well as implementing financial tools and technologies.
Desired – A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, management information systems, or business administration is preferred.
Equity Commitment – You will embody equity principles and shared values in all aspects of your work, as equity is a fundamental expectation for all employees.
Knowledgeable – You have a solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting standards set by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) or Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
You possess advanced knowledge of internal controls over accounting and financial reporting, as well as experience in implementing or upgrading major financial systems from a functional perspective.
Analytical & Creative Problem-Solver – You demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy through thorough self-review.
Efficient Communicator – You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of crafting clear and organized communications for internal and external stakeholders.
Technically Skilled – You are proficient in complex accounting systems (Accounts Receivable, Billing, and GL) and have experience with Microsoft Suite, SharePoint, and database query reporting.
