Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team as a Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of medical laboratory scientists and technicians, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care and adherence to standards of practice for optimal patient safety, quality outcomes, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of medical laboratory scientists and technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Develop and implement quality improvement activities to enhance laboratory operations and patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with management, staff, and physicians to resolve questions and issues, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
- Conduct quality assurance audits of staff performance, providing feedback and coaching to improve skills and performance.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
- Perform medical laboratory scientist/specialist functions, including performing routine and complex analyses, and ensuring that specimens are accessioned and processed expeditiously.
- Fulfill the duties of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) General Supervisor when required.
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Three years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist or comparable role.
- Must have one of the following required certifications: Certified as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or categorical certification by Board of Certification (ASCP), Certified as a Medical Technologist by American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist by National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), HLA only - One of the following is required: Medical Technologist, MT(ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS(ASCP) certification, Microbiology only - One of the following is required: Medical Technologist, MT(ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS(ASCP) certification, Microbiology, M(ASCP) certification, Clinical microbiology registry from American Society for Microbiology, RM(AAM).
