Radiologic Technologist Position

POSITION: Radiology Technician
STATUS: PRN (up to 10 hours per week).
SCHEDULE: Six (6) hours weekly, Monday to Friday, between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must hold a valid license to conduct radiological procedures from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- State licensure in Arizona is mandatory.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
- Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) from recognized organizations is essential.
- Bilingual communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional environment are advantageous.
EQUIPMENT: Familiarity with the GE Definium 5000 radiological machine is preferred but not essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Radiology Technician will be responsible for delivering comprehensive radiology services, including but not limited to:
- Executing routine radiologic examinations as requested by medical personnel for the inmate population.
- Electronically transmitting and retrieving X-ray images and reports, as well as scanning documents into the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
- Receiving training to access radiographic consults from BEMR and scheduling necessary procedures.
- Engaging with a diverse inmate population from various cultural, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Assessing radiographic equipment for necessary calibrations and repairs.
- Possessing knowledge of potential emergency situations that may arise during specialized radiographic procedures.
- Managing exam scheduling and maintaining accurate records.
- Demonstrating understanding of various pathological conditions as evidenced by radiographic imaging.
- Independently determining technical exposure factors and positioning for optimal diagnostic quality.
- Providing clear explanations of procedures to patients to reduce anxiety.
- Carrying out all types of radiographic procedures, including chest, bone, skull, spine, and portable X-rays.
- Alerting the Radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities observed during examinations.
- Coordinating the transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure seamless continuity of care.
- Collaborating with the Clinical Director to complete monitoring and evaluation tasks.
- Acting as a liaison between the radiologist and medical staff.
- Complying with correctional techniques related to medical services through training and orientation.
- Acquiring knowledge of local medical protocols.
- Adhering to universal precautions and wearing protective clothing at all times.
- Performing additional duties associated with the role of a Radiology Technician.
- Managing the computerization and printing of daily logs and exam requisitions.
- Preparing and transporting X-rays for radiologist interpretation.
- Assisting with the maintenance of equipment and supplies, and notifying staff when restocking is necessary.
- Conducting quality assurance tests and performing daily maintenance on X-ray equipment as required.
- Supporting FDA inspections and preparations for program reviews as needed.
- Ensuring all X-ray requests are accurately completed.
- Maintaining computerized patient logs and conducting repeat analysis.
