This position is for a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant.
*Compensation based on experience.
*Night shift hours from 6 PM to 6:30 AM.
*Every other weekend and holiday work is required.
*Additional pay for location and night shifts.
*Must hold a current CNA certification.
Position Summary
The Senior Nursing Assistant (NA) acts as a proficient caregiver to residents during assigned shifts in long-term care settings. This role requires a high level of expertise as a certified nursing assistant, providing support to fellow staff members as necessary.
Deliver resident-focused nursing care and assistance with daily living activities under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN). The NA is responsible for understanding and addressing the physical and emotional needs of residents according to their care plans.
As a vital member of the nursing team, the NA is accountable for adhering to infection control protocols and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This role often involves supporting other clinical staff while managing individual responsibilities and fostering a problem-solving environment.
Responsibilities include assisting with essential health care tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and monitoring vital signs, while also providing emotional support and personal care to residents.
The NA will assist residents with mobility, including transferring and walking, using appropriate techniques and equipment, and will also facilitate exercises as needed. Responsibilities extend to meal preparation and ensuring a pleasant dining experience for residents.
In addition, the NA will assist nursing staff with procedures, document resident interactions, and communicate any changes in residents' conditions to the charge nurse. The role may also involve collecting non-invasive specimens and vital signs, maintaining cleanliness in living areas, and encouraging participation in wellness and recreational activities.
May be tasked with responsibilities related to the Restorative Nursing program, including documentation and scheduling.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred but not mandatory.
Minimum age of 16. Two years of experience in long-term care preferred.
Must possess a valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
Annual completion of department-specific competency testing and continuing education credits is required.
May need to complete Restorative Nursing training within six months.
For certain states, certification with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry may be required.
