Department Overview
Become a vital part of our Canistota team.
This role involves day shifts (6am to 2:30pm) and requires working every other weekend, totaling 2 shifts a week.
A $2.50/hr location premium is included.
Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a crucial role in delivering compassionate care to residents in long-term care settings. This position involves providing resident-centered nursing support and daily living assistance under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN).
Knowledge of and delivery of age-appropriate care tailored to the physical and psychological needs of residents according to their care plans is essential.
As a member of the nursing team, adherence to infection prevention and control policies and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment is expected.
Responsibilities include assisting with basic health care needs and daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and offering psychosocial support.
Assistance with transferring, repositioning, and ambulation using appropriate techniques and equipment is also required, along with providing range of motion and passive exercises.
The CNA will assist with food preparation and dining, ensuring a positive dining experience for residents, and will help with meals and snacks, as well as providing hydration and nutritional supplements as needed.The CNA supports nursing staff with procedures when necessary, documents resident interactions and care outcomes, and communicates any changes in residents' conditions to the charge nurse. Responsibilities also include collecting non-invasive body fluid specimens and vital signs, maintaining cleanliness in living areas, and assisting with wellness and recreational programs to encourage resident participation.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Previous experience in long-term care as a nursing assistant is advantageous.
Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) is required, with certification from the State Board of Nursing or enrollment in a training program to obtain certification within four months of starting the position.
CNA training and certification will be provided by the facility.Annual completion of department-specific competency testing and maintenance of continuing education credits is required, with a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education each year. All required certifications must be maintained.
For applicable states, certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry may be necessary.
Depending on the facility and responsibilities, this role may require a valid driver's license and a motor vehicle report, along with medical qualifications to perform essential driving functions as per company policy.
