Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Corpus Christi Medical Center Bay Area. As a vital member of our patient care team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
Requirements
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
  • Neonate Resuscitation certification must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
  • Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) certification through the Texas Medical Board.
  • Licensed RRT through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with adults in an acute care setting required.
  • At least 1 year of NICU experience required.
  • Ability to work nights and rotating weekends.
