About UFW Foundation: For over 17 years, the UFW Foundation has empowered farm workers and their organizations nationwide to advocate for equitable policies, including immigration reform, pesticide safety, heat standards, hazard pay, and various worker protections. Our mission is to engage constituents in systemic change to break the cycle of poverty while providing essential services. The UFW Foundation stands as the largest federally accredited immigration legal service provider in California, with a dedicated team across multiple states.
Program Overview: The UFW Foundation's Immigration Legal Services Program offers comprehensive affirmative and removal defense services, representing clients before U.S. Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), and California State Courts. Our representation includes low-income clients in various applications, such as family petitions, U-visa/VAWA, waivers, naturalization, DACA, asylum, cancellation of removal, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). We also support unaccompanied minors as a sub-grantee before EOIR and California Family and Probate courts.
Role Summary: The Staff Attorney will be responsible for:
- Providing affirmative immigration relief services.
- Representing clients in deportation proceedings.
- Conducting outreach at designated community college campuses.
- Collaborating with other UFW Foundation programs to foster an organizing culture that drives systemic change.
The ideal candidate will possess legal practice experience or a background in working with immigrant communities. This role will involve collaboration with various UFW Foundation programs and partners to develop a service delivery model that optimizes limited resources in rural areas while leveraging connections from urban centers.
