Position Overview

The Levy Group of Companies is in search of a Laboratory Chemist to join our dynamic team. This role involves conducting a variety of chemical and physical tests on solid materials, liquids, and gases. The Laboratory Chemist will analyze test results for diverse applications, including research, product innovation, quality assurance, and standard establishment, utilizing both experimental and theoretical approaches in chemistry and related fields.

Key Responsibilities

The Laboratory Chemist will:
  • Prepare samples for detailed analysis.
  • Conduct chemical and physical assessments of samples to evaluate strength, stability, chemical composition, and other properties.
  • Set up and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment necessary for testing, research, or process monitoring.
  • Calibrate laboratory instruments.
  • Input data into computer systems.
  • Analyze and interpret data effectively.
  • Document findings and generate comprehensive reports.
  • Undertake additional projects as required.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in chemical technology or a related scientific discipline (e.g., physics, mathematics, engineering, natural sciences) or equivalent experience.
  • The physical capability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, as well as lift up to 50 lbs.
  • The ability to navigate ladders, scaffolding, and stockpiles.
  • A willingness to work with hazardous materials, including strong acids and bases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Experience with XRF and ICP operations.
  • Familiarity with the glass industry is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis methods.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
