Job Summary:

As a key member of the Cherokee Nation's healthcare team, the Surgical Technician will provide critical support for surgical operations, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients and medical staff. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field of the operating room, adhering to strict aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
  • Select and sterilize supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures, demonstrating knowledge of surgical and anesthesia procedures.
  • Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures, anticipating instrument needs and providing accurate and timely support.
  • Contribute to patient safety and comfort by monitoring internal and external environments, performing sponge, needle, and instrument counts, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical process, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; must maintain throughout employment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, human body structure, and function, as well as principles of sterilization and asepsis.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds, with frequent standing, walking, and use of hands and arms.
Working Environment:

The Surgical Technician will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock and radiation. The noise level is moderate, and the employee must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
