Exciting FNP Opportunity at North Star Behavioral Health

North Star Behavioral Health is a renowned behavioral health facility offering programs in and around the Anchorage, Alaska area for children, teens, and adults suffering from psychiatric or substance abuse issues. The institution also provides military-specific care to First Responders, Service Members, Veterans, and their dependents at the Chris Kyle Patriots Hospital.

Our Goal:

  • To provide exceptional patient care that patients recommend to their family and friends, physicians prefer for their patients, and employees are proud to provide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough medical assessments and initial histories within 24 hours of admission.
  • Develop and implement integrated treatment plans addressing both mental health and medical issues in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and support staff.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings to contribute insights into patients' medical conditions, discuss treatment options, and ensure comprehensive care plans.
  • Co-manage patients with complex medical co-morbidities during their length of stay.
  • Provide medical education to patients and their families regarding medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Offer medical consults as needed to patients across the lifespan.

Position Details:

  • Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
  • Benefit-eligible, employed W-2 position.
  • The typical schedule is Monday-Friday, days only.
  • Occasional weekend coverage and weekday overnight call.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Alaska Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Successful completion of an accredited FNP program.
  • AANPCB board certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedication to upholding the highest standards of patient care and safety.
