Welcome to WVU Medicine, where we're committed to delivering exceptional patient care and advancing the field of medicine. As an MRI Technologist, you'll play a critical role in our diagnostic imaging team, working closely with physicians to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and explain exams to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding throughout the process.
- Perform MRI procedures with precision and accuracy, maintaining current knowledge of procedures and safety protocols.
- Assist physicians during exams, providing valuable support and expertise.
- Process exams and make them available on PACS, ensuring timely and accurate results.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care, prioritizing safety and quality.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification through ARRT or ARMRIT in MRI within 1 year of hire.
- West Virginia State Licensure as MRI Technologist or MRI Apprentice, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ARRT Certification in Radiography.
Work Environment:
- Works in a strong magnetic field.
- May be exposed to virus, disease, and infection from patients and specimens in working environment. May be exposed to traumatic situations including psychiatric crisis, physical injuries, and death.
Physical Requirements:
- Extended periods of standing and walking.
- Lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs of weight
- Carry items of up to 20 lbs.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of MRI procedures and safety-issues, organization skills, communication skills, computer skills, multi-tasking
- Ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of situations at any given time
