Job Summary

As a Cardiovascular Technologist at Prisma Health, you will play a critical role in providing clinical support and direction for diagnostic and interventional Cardiovascular procedures. You will work closely with the procedure team, scrubbing with the physician tableside or monitoring and documenting the case. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining competency in each role, utilizing evidence-based practices and research consistent with Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or Radiologic Technologist scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment: Gather pertinent records needed for procedures, including history and physical, lab reports, and medication records. Anticipate and/or predict changes and modify any care delivered to best meet the needs of the patient.
  • Circulating: May circulate with exception of medication administration, maintaining a safe working environment. Know the location and use of emergency equipment. Perform inpatient/outpatient procedures with physician order, operate applicable hospital equipment, and take immediate and appropriate action in life-threatening emergencies.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with hospital personnel, medical staff, patients, families, outside resources, and others verbally and in writing. Function as a team player, demonstrating a positive image of the department and Prisma Health.
  • Education: Ensure that patients understand and consent to procedures, perform education to increase patient and family knowledge, and implement and/or assist in patient education regarding procedures and health maintenance.
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrate organizational ability by using time/equipment/resources effectively. Establish daily procedure schedules in accordance with patient/procedure priorities and physician preferences.
  • Equipment Responsibilities: Properly care and clean patient equipment and all items in patient rooms. Maintain and stock supplies for smooth operation of the department.
  • Scrub Role: Knowledgeable of all angiographic exam, interventional cardiology procedures, and the use of contrast agents. Conduct surgical scrub before invasive procedures, wear appropriate protective covering, and respond to codes and other emergency situations appropriately.
  • Hemodynamic Monitoring Role: Accurately and timely document events of the case, interpret and manage hemodynamic monitoring, and anticipate potential issues, demonstrating clinical assessment and intervention.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a certificate or degree-granting program in a health science: cardiovascular technology, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or paramedic.
  • Current Credentials with ARRT for Radiologic Technologist or RCIS for CVT, RRT, Paramedic.
  • No previous CCL experience required; CCL experience highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Arrhythmia Competency.
  • ARRT (CV), or RCIS, or previous CCL experienced preferred.
  • Epic Cupid or Radiant preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
