Role Overview:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Hospice Aide is responsible for delivering personal care, providing homemaker assistance, and executing defined nursing tasks for patients and their families under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current CNA certification in the applicable state.
• At least six (6) months of experience as a CNA or Home Health Aide.
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare professionals from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Valid driver's license and automobile insurance as per company policy.
• Reliable transportation to fulfill work responsibilities.
• Ability to utilize equipment with visual and auditory functions.
• Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Capacity to manage the emotional challenges associated with caring for ill patients and their families.
• Physical ability to perform essential job functions, including lifting patients and equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, and kneeling, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to access any home or facility in the assigned area, including navigating stairs and confined spaces, and tolerating varying environmental conditions.
• Willingness to engage with individuals with communicable diseases.

Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain required competencies and contact hours as mandated by the organization and regulations.
• Provide patient and caregiver services in accordance with the established Aide/Caregiver Plan of Care and company policies.
• Employ safe body mechanics when moving, positioning, and transferring patients.
• Assist patients and caregivers in sustaining a clean and secure home environment.
• Offer caregiver relief as outlined in the Plan of Care.
• Transport necessary supplies, lab specimens, and documents as directed by the RN.
• Under RN supervision, perform activities that support daily living tasks.
• Contribute to the Plan of Care by communicating observations to the RN.
• Report any significant issues or symptoms to the RN or Clinical Manager.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the following abilities are essential: seeing, hearing, speaking, walking, and using hands for various tasks.
Frequent requirements include safely transferring and ambulating patients, standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and balancing.
Occasional requirements may involve stooping, crouching, kneeling, and climbing stairs.
This position necessitates consent to drug and/or alcohol testing following a conditional employment offer, along with ongoing compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
