Position Overview:
Our client, a prominent healthcare organization, is seeking a qualified Histology Supervisor to oversee laboratory operations.
Shift Details:
This position operates Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assume accountability for the technical functions of the designated laboratory section.
- Ensure adherence to established procedures and protocols.
- Provide assistance and support to the Lab Director/Manager.
- Supervise the specific clinical area assigned.
Quality Management:
- Oversee the implementation and upkeep of quality, efficiency, and safety standards in the section, ensuring compliance with CAP regulations.
Communication:
- Report any deficiencies in the section to leadership, along with updates on test development and team member performance.
Problem-Solving:
- Exhibit initiative in identifying and resolving issues, consistently verifying the accuracy of testing methods and instruments.
Report Review:
- Examine relevant laboratory reports for significant results and clerical errors prior to documentation in medical records.
Resource Management:
- Maintain an adequate supply of materials and engage in cost analysis for current and prospective tests.
Training and Scheduling:
- Complete necessary orientation and training within the section.
- Assign work schedules and assist in workload assessments as required.
- Delegate responsibilities appropriately.
Timeliness:
- Ensure that tasks assigned to section members are completed and reported promptly.
Hands-On Support:
- Function as a bench technologist to assist with workload as necessary.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree with certification in MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), or HTL (ASCP) or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in the specific laboratory section.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
