Empower Students with Hearing Challenges: Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Soliant Education is in search of a committed and enthusiastic Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH). This full-time, on-site role provides a unique opportunity to positively influence the educational journey of students with hearing impairments.

Position Overview:

As a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, your vital role will involve addressing the academic, social, and communicative needs of students facing hearing challenges. You will engage with various schools to deliver specialized instruction and support services. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and executing tailored education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
  • Employing diverse communication strategies, including American Sign Language (ASL), auditory-verbal techniques, and assistive technologies, to effectively engage with students.
  • Delivering direct instruction in core subjects, social skills, and self-advocacy.
  • Collaborating with classroom educators, speech-language therapists, and other specialists to establish a comprehensive support network for students.
  • Evaluating students' educational requirements and progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
  • Championing the needs and rights of students with hearing impairments.
  • Providing guidance and training to school personnel on effective strategies for supporting DHH students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related discipline.
  • Valid teaching certification/license in Deaf Education or a related area.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with other communication methods utilized by students with hearing impairments.
  • Experience in an educational setting with students who have hearing challenges is preferred.
  • Strong grasp of deaf education methodologies and best practices.
  • Exceptional communication, teamwork, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Willingness to travel between educational institutions.
