Under the guidance of the Executive Chef/Sous Chef, the Culinary Operations Supervisor manages the daily functions of the kitchen, ensuring exceptional standards of food quality, safety, and operational efficiency. This position entails directing kitchen personnel, overseeing inventory management, and adhering to all health and safety regulations. The Culinary Operations Supervisor is tasked with fostering a productive and positive work atmosphere, enforcing company policies and procedures, and emphasizing staff training and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trains, supervises, and assesses kitchen personnel, ensuring effective team performance and adherence to quality standards.
- Assists the Executive Chef(s) in implementing regular and modified menus according to established guidelines, including healthy eating plans, dietary restrictions, and allergies.
- Manages inventory supplies, including receiving deliveries, ensuring proper stock rotation, and accurate labeling.
- Maintains high standards of food quality, flavor, and presentation.
- Completes and utilizes daily operational procedures to ensure effective kitchen standards.
- Collaborates with the Chef(s) to develop, update, and maintain menus efficiently.
- Follows food safety and sanitation guidelines established by County/State/Federal health codes to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensures kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in optimal working condition.
- Oversees the completion of all kitchen operation logs, ensuring that kitchen staff adhere to and complete assigned tasks.
- Provides ongoing training and development for kitchen staff, focusing on culinary skills, safety protocols, and member service.
- Addresses and resolves member feedback and complaints regarding food quality and service, aligning with New Freedom core values.
- Assists the Chef(s) in conducting regular performance evaluations for kitchen staff, providing constructive feedback, and setting goals for ongoing development and improvement.
- Manages and resolves conflicts within the Food Services team in a sensitive, timely, and effective manner to maintain a positive work environment.
- Monitors the safe use and storage of kitchen cleaning chemicals.
- Leads the kitchen team during emergency situations, ensuring safety and minimizing disruptions.
- Demonstrates an effective ability to maintain expected levels of confidentiality.
- Exhibits advanced knowledge and skills in food preparation, cooking, and commercial kitchen operations.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
