Under the guidance of a medical professional, the Athletic Rehabilitation Expert implements strategies and techniques for addressing sports-related injuries. This role encompasses the preconditioning, conditioning, and reconditioning of individuals recovering from athletic injuries, utilizing suitable preventative and supportive measures.
The Athletic Rehabilitation Expert is responsible for educating coaches, athletes, guardians, and medical staff regarding the care and prevention of sports injuries. This position operates within educational institutions and healthcare facilities to enhance patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide coverage for athletic events as outlined by the organizational agreement and schedule.
- Collaborate with the school's Athletic Trainer to deliver a comprehensive athletic training program, dedicating 40 hours per week on-site.
- Offer support during summer sessions for local collegiate summer sports teams.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure coverage for home games based on a schedule established by the organization, athletic trainer, and athletic director, focusing on varsity and select non-varsity events.
- Deliver practice coverage as determined by the athletic trainer and athletic director.
- Implement injury prevention strategies through protective taping, wrapping, and bracing, while assisting in the design of training sessions to minimize injury risks.
The Athletic Rehabilitation Expert will conduct educational workshops for staff on topics such as injury prevention, CPR, injury recognition, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Assist physical therapists or physicians in managing patient care by maintaining equipment, changing linens, and aiding in bracing and splinting.
Marketing and Communication:
Promote the athletic training program and Resiliency LLC within the educational and medical communities through various outreach materials.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Sports Medicine or a related field; Master's Degree in Athletic Training preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: NYS Registration and License as a Certified Athletic Trainer; NATABOC Certification; BLS Certification required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.
- Experience: Minimum age of 21 years (per NYS Regulations); 1-2 years of experience as an Athletic Trainer in a high school or physician practice setting preferred.
Skills: Proven leadership capabilities, ability to manage confidential information discreetly, and effective public interaction skills. Must demonstrate flexibility in work assignments and possess exceptional communication and customer service abilities. Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets, is required.
