Position: Advanced Practical Nurse 4 (APN4)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: Clallam Bay Corrections Center

The Department of Corrections is in search of a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practical Nurse (APN4) for the Clallam Bay Corrections Center.

Both Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses will be eligible for a shift differential of $2.50 per hour for evening and night shifts. Additional supplemental shift premiums may also apply:


  • $1.00 per hour for shifts worked between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
  • $3.00 per hour for shifts worked from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight.

Travel Information:

A Vanpool incentive is available for eligible employees commuting to the Clallam Bay Corrections Center.


CBCC has the capacity to accommodate 858 male individuals, situated on the Olympic Peninsula.

It is located 50 miles west of Port Angeles, offering views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

The Advanced Practical Nurse 4 plays a vital role in supporting the agency's mission by delivering direct care and managing specialized clinic services, including:


  • Assessing and evaluating the health conditions of incarcerated individuals to ensure their well-being and continuous healthcare.
  • Responding to healthcare requests in a timely, clinically appropriate, and therapeutic manner.
  • Assisting in the management and coordination of healthcare delivery, providing updates to the shift supervisor.
  • Aiding patients in enhancing their self-care skills and abilities.
  • Educating and counseling individuals to improve health service quality and safety.
  • Holding a valid Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse without any restrictions.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

Professional references should be individuals who have supervised your work and can attest to your job performance and skills. If you lack sufficient professional references, non-related professionals such as educators may be included.
