Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform basic patient care procedures, including taking and recording vital signs, height, and weight.
• Assist physicians with examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient clinical experience for patients.
• Conduct phlebotomy and perform simple lab procedures, maintaining accurate records and results.
• Assist patients with undressing and dressing, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
• Prepare exam rooms and equipment, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
• Monitor inventory and ordering of medical office supplies, ensuring timely restocking and minimizing waste.
• Maintain government compliance with OSHA, DEA, and CLIA regulations, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
• Review charts of waiting patients, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
• Escort patients into the exam area, preparing them for their appointment.
• Place patients in exam rooms and prepare them for examination, ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Assist physicians with treatment and procedures, maintaining accurate records and results.
• Schedule appointments for specific testing, conferring with physicians and patients as needed.
• Order refills or prescriptions within established physician guidelines and supervision, posting to patient charts as required.
• Determine disposition of physician telephone messages daily, in conjunction with the front office.
• Review encounters to ensure all procedures and services are properly checked and documented.
• Document patient charts with information from telephone calls, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
• Inventory and originate requisition orders for medical and drug supplies, ensuring timely restocking and minimizing waste.
• Maintain sterile instruments and equipment, adhering to infection control protocols.
• Direct patient flow in clinical areas, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
• Remind physicians to update medical records, maintaining accurate and up-to-date information.
• Maintain budget awareness, cost containment, and quality control of office supplies and medications.
• Identify problems in clinical and medical records functions, reporting them and offering suggestions for improvement.
• Maintain strict confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and regulations.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Assistance with experience in phlebotomy or equivalent clinical experience in a physician office setting.
• Typing and computer skills, ability to operate office equipment, and stay calm in emergencies.
• Good communication, written, and organizational skills, ability to deal with multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
• Ability to adapt and incorporate new tasks, exercise sound judgment, and contribute new ideas and solutions to problems.
• Ability to deal with the public in a professional manner, maintain good relationships with Center personnel and staff physicians, and maintain patient confidentiality.
