The Advanced Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing comprehensive maintenance and repair tasks across various facilities. This role requires a solid understanding of multiple trades, including but not limited to painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems. The technician will report to the Supervisor regarding any unique challenges or issues that arise during work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct repairs and maintenance on electrical systems, including replacing receptacle covers and switches, and patching minor wall and ceiling damage.
  • Perform plumbing tasks such as repairing or replacing sinks, toilets, and water coolers.
  • Execute painting duties for structures and equipment, ensuring a high-quality finish.
  • Replace damaged materials, including drywall, paneling, and floor tiles, as well as install doors and locks.
  • Carry out general maintenance on various equipment and machinery.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions to plan and execute work effectively.
  • Collaborate with other trades and crafts personnel to support daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas and ensure unobstructed access to mechanical rooms.
  • Assist in snow removal and serve as a spotter during grounds maintenance tasks.
  • Actively participate in safety training and adhere to safety protocols relevant to the trades involved.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in operations and maintenance or related services.
  • At least six (6) years of experience in construction or renovation activities.
  • Completion of apprenticeship programs or possession of journeyman licenses may substitute for experience.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in carpentry, drywall, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, and painting.
  • Familiarity with construction and renovation equipment.
  • Ability to utilize various tools and equipment effectively.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse individuals.
  • Experience in emergency management and hazardous materials handling is preferred.
  • Capability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
