Job Summary

The General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks to maintain and repair equipment and buildings. This role requires practical skill and knowledge in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, including replacing electrical receptacle covers, switches, and repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, toilets, and painting structures and equipment.
  • Replace broken windowpanes and perform general maintenance on equipment or machinery.
  • Install or repair electrical equipment, paint, plumbing, and masonry, and work involves planning and layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
  • Assist other crafts and trades personnel in their daily operations and perform work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping practices are observed and clean up areas of work and mechanical rooms to ensure each is clean and unobstructed access is available.
  • Assist with snow removal by using small hand tools and work as a spotter when needed during grounds/labor work.
  • Support the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
  • This position has been designated as Mission Critical, and the employee must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and acquire a Secret Clearance.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum ten (10) years' experience in Operations and Maintenance services supporting a military base or civilian installation.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Emergency Management/Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expert Knowledge and skill in one or more building trades, for example, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and painting.
  • Ability to guide and often lead coworkers with responsibilities related to your expert skill.
  • Possess good organization and communication skills, as well as maturity and ability to deal with all levels of people, both inside and outside the company.
  • Ability to create a high-quality product in a timely manner, without unnecessary assistance, that is correct according to building codes and regulations.
  • Ability to be open and willing to cross-train and develop other trade skills to implement in the field.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to acquire a Secret Clearance.
