Job Title: Technical Services Manager

The University of Mississippi is seeking a highly skilled Technical Services Manager to fill a key role in our library operations. As a member of our library team, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical services division, supervising staff, and ensuring the smooth operation of our library systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the technical services division, including acquisition, receipt, claiming, processing, binding, cataloging, and preservation functions.
  • Supervise a team of staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the efficient operation of the division.
  • Oversee the government documents depository and manage the integrated library automation system.
  • Coordinate the receipt, check-in, claiming, duplicate exchange, and routing of serials.
  • Manage bindery operations, including writing and revising policies and procedures.
  • Supervise cataloging operations, including writing and revising policies and procedures.
  • Manage the processing and withdrawal of library materials.
  • Supervise the updating of library collections.
  • Oversee functions of government documents.
  • Manage the online catalog, serials, acquisitions, payment, and circulation functions.
  • Gather statistical data for various reports.
  • Assist in negotiating and monitoring contracts and vendor services.
  • Provide reference and other assistance to patrons.
Essential Functions:
  • Supervise cataloging operations.
  • Install and maintain software programs and automated systems.
  • Oversee library acquisitions.
  • Manage functions of the integrated library automation system.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree from an ALA-accredited college or university in Library Science or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience related to the above-described duties.
