Position Overview

As an HR Generalist in our Danbury, CT office, you will collaborate with the HR Site Lead to execute a variety of human resources functions, which may encompass: benefits administration, performance and compensation management, recruitment and staffing, employee relations, policy implementation, training, HRIS support, and employee communications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate HR policies and procedures effectively.
  • Manage terminations and corrective action processes.
  • Conduct exit interviews with departing employees.
  • Assist with investigations related to harassment, EEOC, and similar claims, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Adhere to all state and federal regulations.
  • Support the administration of the compensation program, including the annual performance appraisal process.
  • Communicate changes in benefit policies.
  • Coordinate open enrollment activities.
  • Research and resolve complex employee benefit inquiries in collaboration with third-party providers.
  • Administer leaves of absence, FMLA, workers' compensation, and STD/LTD processes.
  • Assist managers in conducting needs assessments for open positions.
  • Source candidates through various methods (e.g., online platforms, career fairs, educational institutions) from both internal and external sources.
  • Process new hires and facilitate onboarding for all new employees.
  • Ensure timely submission and processing of employee data via HRIS systems.
  • Compile statistical reports for departmental or regulatory purposes.
  • Collaborate closely with the payroll department.
  • Support and reinforce the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Work closely with management at all levels.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field with 2+ years of experience in human resource management.
  • Experience in employment law and compliance regulations is preferred.
  • Ability to coach employees and management through complex and sensitive issues.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make recommendations for effective problem resolution using sound judgment.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop less experienced HR staff.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR administration principles and practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in various software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, ADP).
  • MS Office proficiency required; HRIS experience preferred.
  • SPHR or PHR certification is a plus.
  • Candidates must be U.S. citizens and meet security standards as imposed by the Department of Defense.
