Bakery Lead Job Summary

As a Bakery Lead at Northgate Markets, you will be responsible for directing and supervising all activities of the bakery department personnel in the absence of the AM bakery team leader. Your goal will be to achieve sales and profit goals established for the department, ensuring that the work shift contributes to the financial best interests of the store.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and enforce grooming standards throughout the department.
  • Responsible for the overall performance of the bakery department when the AM manager is not working.
  • Direct and supervise team members in the absence of the bakery manager.
  • Perform all the duties and job functions of an experienced baker or cake decorator.
  • Assist in supervising and training other Bakery Department personnel.
  • Maintain good communications in the department and throughout the organization.
  • Notify manager of personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performance or of situations requiring disciplinary action or that may potentially require such action.
  • Perform any other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance.
Requirements and Conditions
  • High school education, or equivalent.
  • Basic bakery knowledge, basic computer skills, word, excel, outlook.
  • Managerial skills.
  • Must have at least 1 year experience in retail sales and management experience.
  • Be able to pass a standard drug test and qualify as being drug-free under the legal and medical guidelines permitted by the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988.
