General Purpose

Under general supervision, this role involves performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep of assigned County buildings and facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED Certificate from an accredited institution and six months of experience in custodial services involving the cleaning and maintenance of building interiors.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must maintain a valid New Mexico driver's license.
  • Successful completion of a background check applicable to the position.
This position is subject to random alcohol and drug testing in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions
  • Conducts a wide range of cleaning and custodial services; empties trash and disposes of it properly; changes liners in trash containers as necessary; dusts and cleans office furniture, including desks, chairs, and cabinets; cleans window sills and washes windows both inside and outside.
  • Regularly cleans floors and furnishings; wet mops tile floors; maintains restrooms by emptying trash, sweeping floors, cleaning wash basins, urinals, toilets, walls, mirrors, and mopping floors; restocks soap and paper supplies in restrooms and sanitizes floors; sweeps entry areas as directed; dusts and wet mops hallways, light fixtures, and ceiling fans as needed.
  • Maintains sidewalks and surrounding areas of facilities.
  • Performs daily inspections to identify maintenance needs such as light bulb replacements, clogged drains, and minor repairs.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies; monitors stock levels and informs the supervisor in writing when new supplies are needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
