Position Summary:

We are in search of a Procurement Specialist to enhance our team at Forge Biologics. This role is integral to the strategic and operational functions of our supply chain, specifically supporting our cGMP manufacturing initiatives. The Procurement Specialist will oversee all purchasing and sourcing activities for both internal and external gene therapy projects.

This position offers a unique opportunity to play a vital role in our department's success. The selected candidate will manage purchasing operations, liaise with internal teams and external partners, and ensure that all procurement processes align with our organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate daily procurement activities, including issuing purchase orders, maintaining supplier communications, and tracking order statuses.
  • Engage with suppliers to confirm lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Organize and lead internal meetings to discuss sourcing needs for equipment and materials.
  • Conduct regular meetings with key suppliers to monitor open orders.
  • Ensure vendor compliance with performance standards and pursue avenues for acquiring cGMP-compliant products.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to generate and present bi-weekly reports on pharmaceutical backorders.
  • Assist in establishing a lab inventory management system, including reorder points and safety stock levels.
  • Utilize industry insights to identify new manufacturers and enhance product availability.
  • Work with Supply Chain Management to assess and negotiate favorable supply agreements.
  • Support vendor evaluations and assist in gathering necessary information for supplier quality assessments.
  • Provide assistance to the finance team to resolve any pricing or invoicing issues.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor consistent with company policies and standards.
  • Collaborate with Inventory Analysts and Operations Planners to ensure adequate product supply for operations.
  • Develop recurring orders for frequently needed items to guarantee uninterrupted supply.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or purchasing.
  • Experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing or regulated supply chain environments is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to support production needs.
  • Proficient in various ERP/MRP systems.
  • Occasional travel may be required to fulfill job responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This role operates in both a warehouse and an office setting, with physical demands varying based on specific tasks. The environment is typically moderate in noise level. Responsibilities may include moving materials and operating standard warehouse equipment. Candidates should be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs and navigate the facility for extended periods.
