POSITION SUMMARY:
The role involves assisting educators in creating a nurturing and educational atmosphere that promotes self-esteem, social skills, communication abilities, creative expression, and cognitive development.
Classification: Non-Exempt Position
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support educators in preparing instructional materials.
- Assist during the execution of lesson plans.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages appropriate individual and group behaviors.
- Ensure classroom regulations align with state standards.
- Perform essential housekeeping tasks, including cleaning surfaces, disinfecting toys, and adhering to hygiene protocols.
- Carry out various job-related tasks as needed.
- Complete end-of-day checklist responsibilities.
- Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians.
- Adapt to classroom routines as necessary.
- Keep current with CPR/First Aid training and any required professional development.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Note: Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Mandatory: High school diploma or GED, along with a minimum of ninety (90) college credit hours or two (2) years of technical college education. A minimum of one (1) year of experience working directly with individuals with disabilities is required. A valid Class 1 Georgia driver's license is also necessary.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
The ideal candidate should be a mature, friendly, and caring individual with strong communication skills. A solid understanding of the agency's Mission and Vision, as well as its programs and services, is essential. Familiarity with the agency's accreditation process and its significance to the organization is also important.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Arc of Southwest Georgia Kid's Corner Child Development Center offers an academically focused environment that supports learning and development. It also serves as a space for activities and personal interactions with families and professionals. Some travel may be required as part of this role.
SUPERVISION:
The position reports to the Director of the Child Development Center and does not include supervisory responsibilities over other staff members.
