Stormwater Maintenance Worker I

The City of Lenexa is seeking a skilled Stormwater Maintenance Worker I to join our Municipal Services Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the stormwater infrastructure in Lenexa, KS.
This is an entry-level position that offers on-the-job training and the opportunity to earn your CDL. You will have the chance to learn and grow through our career track program, achieving levels I, II, and III.
Key Responsibilities- Perform manual labor involving maintenance and repairs to storm drainage systems, including shovel work, spreading rock, loading or unloading trucks, and transporting construction material.
- Assist in the construction and maintenance of stream stabilization and restorations.
- Perform storm sewer system repair and replacement duties.
- Operate various mechanical equipment, including single and tandem axle dump trucks, farm tractors, snow removal equipment, and hand and power tools.
- Perform native vegetation management, including weed eating, herbicide application, mowing, and prescribed burning.
- Perform walk-around inspections on equipment prior to operation, replenish fluid levels, and complete required logs.
- Respond to snow and ice removal and other emergencies, including weekends, before and after hours, and holidays.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. or two years of experience in construction or landscape-related field.
- Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements or obtain within 180 days from hire date.
- Work Zone Safety Certification, including Flagger.
- Complete required NIMS IS-100 and IS-700 training within three months of hire.
- Defined career growth to reach a level III.
- Clothing allowance ($400 annually).
- Boot allowance ($170 annually).

- Additional $2.00 per hour on top of the base hourly rate of pay during the winter months.
