Key Responsibilities- Assess and Evaluate Patient Care Needs: Conduct thorough nursing assessments, prioritize treatment, and maintain patient flow to ensure optimal care outcomes.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with physicians and other licensed healthcare professionals to arrange for further medical treatment when necessary.
- Provide Education and Training: Evaluate health education/promotion needs of patients and provide necessary training and instruction to promote healthy behaviors.
- Administer Medications and Treatments: Competently administer medications and medical treatments as directed by a physician or licensed independent practitioner.
- Maintain Accurate Medical Records: Document all elements of nursing assessment, treatments, medications administered, discharge instructions provided, and follow-up care arranged.
- Certification and Education: Certificate from an accredited nursing school or associate's degree (A.S.) is required; bachelor's degree (BSN) from a four-year college or university is preferred.
- Licensure and Certification: Currently licensed registered nurse in the state of practice required; current hands-on training in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for healthcare providers is required.
- Experience and Skills: At least three years of experience as a registered nurse in an emergency room, occupational health clinic, or other ambulatory care clinic; knowledge of Internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software is preferred.
