Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Respiratory Intern to join our team at McLaren Health Care. As a Respiratory Intern, you will assist in the administration of prescribed doses of medical gases and the set-up and administration of therapeutic treatment and aerosolized drugs to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the administration of prescribed doses of medical gases and the set-up and administration of therapeutic treatment and aerosolized drugs to patients.
  • Use oxygen mixtures in conjunction with therapeutic respiratory therapy equipment.
  • Assist with patient care rounds per policy.
  • Provide and monitor routine oxygen therapy, non-critical patient transports, and patient education as needed.
  • Treat patients using a variety of methods including chest physiotherapy, aerosol medications, and non-invasive methods such as CPAP and BIPAP therapies.
  • Monitor and record the progress of treatment.
  • Teach patients how to use treatments.
  • Operate, calibrate, process, and maintain respiratory equipment.
  • Clean, reassemble, and performance test various pieces of patient care equipment.
  • Restock respiratory supplies and cylinders.
  • Actively pursue education and training necessary to become a respiratory therapist.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled, with successful completion of three semesters, and in good standing with a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved respiratory care program.
  • BLS certification.
