Position Overview:
The role involves providing direct patient care by assessing the patient's medical history while gathering, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data relevant to the patient's health or condition. The physician will make immediate decisions and take actions necessary to prevent mortality or further disability in both prehospital environments by directing emergency medical technicians and within the emergency department. This position entails the immediate recognition, evaluation, care, stabilization, and disposition of a diverse population of adult and pediatric patients responding to acute illnesses and injuries.
Key Position Highlights:
- Team of six emergency department physicians
- Robust support from full-time hospitalist coverage and various specialties including surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and more
- 24/7 access to system service lines such as mental health, cardiology, and neurology
- Approximately 9,000 visits annually
- 11-bed emergency department
- Experienced team of CRNAs, nurses, and employed EMS professionals
- Level IV Trauma Center, Stroke Ready designation
- Streamlined transfers to an affiliated tertiary care hospital network
- Utilization of Epic with Dragon dictation
- 12-hour shifts, averaging 12 per month, with flexible scheduling options
- Express Care Clinic operational daily, staffed by clinic physicians and advanced practice providers
- Eligibility for relocation and signing bonuses
- Hospital-employed model
- Straight hourly compensation with 1.5x pay for holidays
- 5% Annual Performance Incentive Bonus

- Continuing Medical Education (CME) spending account
- MD, DO, or equivalent foreign training is mandatory.
- Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency training program in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine experience.
- Possession of an active, unrestricted medical license in the state of Minnesota (or the ability to obtain one).
- Capability to obtain and/or maintain Minnesota DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Ability to meet criteria for credentialing and hospital privileges, if applicable.
- ACLS/BLS certification required within 180 days of hire.
- ATLS or CALS certification preferred.
- PALS certification required.
Physical Demands:
Medium Work: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally, and up to 25 lbs. frequently.
