Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Level 2 Networking Technician to join our team at eXcell in Hillsboro, OR. As a key member of our IT support team, you will be responsible for providing first-level Smart Hands support to second- and third-level support teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain network environments as part of onsite teams in support of physical touch (Smart Hands) for incidents and requests.
  • Provide incident support by working with remote level 2/3 teams to assist in resolving outages and fixing issues, including replacement of cabling or hardware components.
  • Support service request fulfillment and work with remote network support teams to install hardware or patch cables to enable new services for customers.
  • Participate in hardware rack and stack installation of both Network and Server equipment, cable management, and installation of required Fiber and Copper Patch leads.
  • Provide console access to Remote Teams for configuration if required and testing connectivity after installation and configuration.
  • Receive hardware shipments for data center equipment landings.
  • Validate purchase order accuracy of hardware/material received.
  • Unbox, discard, and recycle materials.
  • Move equipment from dock to staging areas or racks.
  • Perform work request tasks from ServiceNow.
  • Install or retrofit server racks - rail and shelving installation.
  • Perform power and network cable installation and cable management.
  • Scan and label installed devices (network or server).
  • Determine parts identified for spare part stock inventory.
  • Properly handle e-waste and disposal.
  • Ship and receive equipment as needed.
  • Provide escort services for vendors/techs.

Requirements:
  • Possess higher education or degree preferred (but not required) or foreign equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Have a minimum of 2+ years of experience in racking, stacking, connecting, and providing basic configuration support of networking or server devices.
  • Be able to withstand working in a hot enclosed environment for short time spans (i.e., data center hot isles).
  • Must be able to perform work while on a ladder (use of ladders is required for top-of-rack installations).
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in teams of 3-4 and be flexible.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs solo.
  • Must be willing to travel between buildings using personal car/foot.
  • May be required to walk/sit/stand/crawl/kneel for extended periods.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Requires knowledge of Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Word primarily), Windows 10.
  • Ability to communicate by telephone, email, or face-to-face.
  • Experience with Structured Network Cabling, WIFI hardware, Networking, Ethernet Switching hardware, and Cable Troubleshooting Knowledge/Experience.

Estimated Salary Range: $60,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience.
