About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nutrition Lab Technician to join our R&D team at Freshpet. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting nutritional analysis testing of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, and total dietary fiber.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the nutritional compliance of pet diets, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, and dietary fibers.
  • Complete Nutrition Lab specific training and ongoing training, including meetings, seminars, courses, conferences, and on-site training as needed.
  • Become familiar with nutritional analysis test methods and the necessary lab equipment needed to make the analysis.
  • Comfortable working with chemicals and performing wet bench chemistry techniques.
  • Comfortable with dilutions, dilution factors, and conversions.
  • Become familiar with the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment, including the TDF analyzer, ICP-MS, LC-MS, LECO, Sox-tec, and others as needed.
  • Manage notices and alerts when equipment parts are in bad condition or need maintenance.
  • Remove waste and debris and maintain the Nutrition Lab in good order.
  • Properly prepare and dispose of solvents, reagents, and solutions.
  • Follow all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety, and laboratory guidelines.
  • Assure food safety standards with regards to GMPs and HACCP plan are being followed by self and fellow employees.
Requirements
  • 3 years of laboratory experience in Nutrition Analysis, preferably in a food-based industry.
  • 3 years of experience handling, calibrating, and maintaining analytical equipment.
  • 3 years of experience with S.O.P technical instructions.
  • Familiarity with GMPs of raw and finished goods, preferably in a food-based industry.
  • Teamwork attitude to form part of an innovative and creative group.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
