Job Summary and Qualifications
Responsible for ensuring the care and safety of patients undergoing imaging procedures while utilizing equipment to minimize risks of electric shock, burns, and unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Ensures safe handling of equipment and imaging films.
- Evaluates patients' understanding of procedures and secures informed consent for invasive processes.
- Monitors, assesses, and communicates any changes in patients' conditions during examinations.
- Selects appropriate equipment for procedures and determines the most suitable anatomical positioning while providing necessary shielding for patients.

Conducts specialized imaging examinations requiring specific equipment and protocols, including:
- Intravenous pyelograms, intravenous cholangiograms, bronchograms, mammograms, hysterosalpingograms, tomograms, cholangiography, arthrograms, myelograms, and surgical imaging.
- Programs portable or stationary x-ray machines and produces radiograms for various examinations.
- Processes x-ray films when a darkroom technician is unavailable.
- Practices medical and surgical aseptic techniques.
- Assists in maintaining essential records and reports.
- Supports the training of students and ancillary personnel.
- Takes x-ray, CAT, U/S, and Angio calls as per the monthly schedule after regular department hours.
- Engages professionally with patients and their families.
- Completes all tasks before concluding the shift, including checking with nursing stations.
- Familiar with local fire and safety regulations and knowledgeable about hospital policies and the functions of other departments.

- Compiles and maintains quality assurance data for mammography, adhering to ACR, State of Louisiana, Department of Health Standards, FDA, and DHHS.

Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to various age groups:
- Neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general population.
- Modifies job duties and communicates effectively with customers in an age-appropriate manner.
- Appropriately assesses patients' pain and involves them in effective pain management using suitable interventions.
- Meets dress code standards; maintains a neat and clean appearance.
- Completes annual educational requirements and maintains regulatory compliance.
- Ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
- Reports to work punctually and as scheduled; fulfills work within designated time.
- Consistently completes and maintains assigned duties; upholds PAR levels.
- Wears identification while on duty; accurately uses computerized timekeeping systems.
- Completes in-services promptly and attends annual reviews and departmental in-services as scheduled.
- Participates in required staff meetings and represents the organization positively and professionally.
- Actively engages in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives.
- Adheres to all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital, as well as the department's focus statement.
- Excellent communication skills and knowledge/competency to complete all standard imaging procedures/exams.

- Strong understanding of ALARA principles.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in operating all common imaging equipment, including portable x-ray, R&F rooms, C-arms, and others.

- Ability to provide compassionate care to all age groups.
- Capable of completing specialty exams independently.
- Knowledgeable and proficient in using PACS.
- Basic computer skills.
- Assist in training x-ray students and ancillary personnel.
- Ability to communicate effectively with providers in a clear and concise manner.
- Flexible work schedule to meet departmental needs.
- Willingness to take on call responsibilities as required.

What qualifications you will need:
- Registered Radiographer (ARRT) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- State Registered Radiologic Technician.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support or CPR for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
