Job Title: Senior Distinguished 1, Data Scientist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Distinguished 1, Data Scientist to join our Intelligent Store team at Walmart. As a key member of our data science team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Intelligent Store operations by leading a team of data scientists dedicated to employing advanced analytics and data-driven solutions.

About the Role:

The Senior Distinguished 1, Data Scientist will be responsible for driving the strategic vision and execution for the data science team, promoting a culture of data-driven decision making. You will independently analyze data to drive strategic direction for the business, including technical approach, investment, and focus. You will also articulate complex data insights to stakeholders and senior management in a clear and concise manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the strategic vision and execution for the data science team.
  • Analyze data to drive strategic direction for the business.
  • Articulate complex data insights to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Accelerate the AI/ML lifecycle by optimizing the cost and velocity of training data for system improvements.
  • Uphold the integrity and quality of all data analysis, modeling, and interpretation.
  • Formulate and implement effective data governance and data management protocols.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a similar field.
  • 15+ years of combined experience in data science, including substantial experience in both IC & leadership roles.
  • Track record of solving complicated business problems using data.
  • Profound knowledge of machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, etc.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data in a simple, understandable manner.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking skills.
