Principal Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead our team at the National Solar Observatory. As a senior leader, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance to our engineering team, ensuring the successful operation of our complex mechanical systems. Your extensive experience in mechanical engineering, project management, and leadership will enable you to make significant contributions to our organization.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, plus recognition and achievement of technical, scientific, and leadership excellence in the field. At least 15 years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, development, fabrication/integration, and analysis of technical apparatus is required. You will also possess exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team.
- Develop and implement plans for the maintenance, upgrade, and operation of major systems.
- Manage staff, including scheduling and budgeting.
- Solve complex engineering problems and initiate studies for new technical approaches.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including leadership teams and external contacts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- At least 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, project management, and leadership.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Salary Range: $140,000.00-$170,000.00 per year.
