Educational Support Specialist

Position Overview
As an Educational Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting students who require instructional and behavioral support. This position operates under the guidance of the special education department and designated supervisors.
Pay Structure
Compensation: $20 per hour
Work Schedule: Approximately 6 to 7 hours per day with a mandatory 30-minute break.
Qualifications
- Adherence to all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Completion of the Amergis Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR certification if required.
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as applicable.
- Current Health certificate in accordance with contract or state regulations.
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as relevant to the job site.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Strong communication skills, with proficiency in the English language.
- Basic computer skills are necessary.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide instructional and behavioral assistance to students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Support students with personal care and mobility needs as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Implement IEP objectives in areas such as math, reading, speech, and behavioral management.
- Facilitate teacher-led learning activities, including lesson plans and group work.
- Assist students in general education settings as needed.
- Communicate essential information to teachers regarding student progress.
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, and community activities.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all student-related matters.
- Assist with prescribed programs from related service personnel, including PT, OT, and SLP.
- Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities.
- Assist with classroom organization and clerical tasks as required.
- Report any changes in student status as directed.
