Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all tasks related to the initiation of discrete jobs on the manufacturing floor, including but not limited to:
  • Analyzing the daily production schedule to determine job launch timing and sequence
  • Creating Oracle Discrete jobs based on provided production length targets
  • Linking orders to minimize scrap and enhance throughput while optimizing raw material usage
  • Identifying opportunities for WOP inventory utilization
  • Selecting fiber for orders based on characteristics, focusing on utilization and scrap reduction
  • Generating Production Shop Packs
  • Managing incoming fiber storage, staging fibers for coloring, and creating coloring discrete as necessary to support production
  • Coordinating tasks with fellow Fiber Planners to meet daily demands
  • Collaborating closely with internal customers in Fiber Planning
  • Engaging in related improvement initiatives
  • Adhering to all safety protocols required of a Fiber Planner
  • Completing all mandatory Safety Training
  • Upholding and promoting AFL's environmental, health, and safety policies
Qualifications:
  • Proven track record with over 3 years of experience in discrete manufacturing within the cable sector
  • Current AFL manufacturing process certification in at least two primary processes
  • Active EHS/Quality certification and EHS training
  • No pending or active disciplinary actions
  • Reliable with an excellent attendance record
  • Willingness to work overtime, off shifts, and weekends with limited notice, as well as rotating shifts when necessary

  • Detail-oriented and quick to learn
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
