Job Overview

Position Title: Warehouse Assistant

Reports To: Warehouse Manager

Position Summary: This role is essential for managing the distribution of goods to various programs, processing incoming products, and supporting overall warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the core values of Weld Food Bank
  • Document all food movements in accordance with established protocols
  • Organize, sanitize, and oversee food handling to ensure safety and compliance with Feeding America, USDA, and AIB standards
  • Assist the Warehouse Manager with:
    • Handling, documenting, and storing products using forklifts, reach trucks, and electric pallet jacks
    • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, accurately counting and processing food items as per Weld Food Bank guidelines
    • Safely operating equipment for loading and unloading tasks
    • Managing product movement to Weld Food Bank programs
    • Conducting inventory management
  • Coordinate and supervise volunteer groups and community service participants.
  • Organize and stock the warehouse cooler and freezer, adhering to proper food rotation and expiration management.
  • Occasionally operate Weld Food Bank vehicles for food and supply pickups and deliveries.
  • Maintain daily temperature logs and pest control records within the facility.
  • Oversee and/or manage the warehouse cleaning schedules as required by Feeding America and AIB.
  • Be available for weekend or evening shifts to support food bank initiatives.
  • Provide assistance for the Extra Room and other Weld Food Bank programs as needed.
  • Ensure monthly temperature calibrations are performed for all infrared thermometers utilized in the warehouse.
  • Encourage teamwork and collaborate with staff and volunteers to foster a clean, safe, and positive work environment.
  • Promote the mission of Weld Food Bank.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned, including:
    • Managing pallet tags
    • Maintaining aisle listings and inventory
    • Ensuring proper food rotation and inventory management
    • Monitoring and managing expiration dates for timely product movement

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk
  • Utilize hands for handling and writing
  • Frequent reaching to stack and unstack products
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Regularly lift items weighing up to 50 pounds

Work Environment:

  • Moderate noise levels
  • Frequent exposure to cooler (40°F) and freezer (-10°F) temperatures
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions
  • Frequent exposure to uneven surfaces

Equipment Proficiency:

Must be capable of operating forklifts, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, and standard pallet jacks proficiently.
